Online assessment centre practice

If you pass the online tests you are invited to an online assessment centre, about two and a half hours on webcam. HMPPS describes three exercises: a 30-minute interview, a 10-minute role play and a 25-minute written exercise, all scored against the HMPPS behaviours. Formats and timings can change between campaigns, so always check your own invitation.

Role play

About 10 minutes with an actor playing a prisoner. Each brief comes with what the actor will push, what good looks like and a model approach.

Written incident form

The reported 25 minutes: about 2 to read and 23 to write. Write your report, check it against the marking points and the model answer.

Interview

Strengths questions and the two behaviour questions, with what interviewers look for and a model answer for each.

AI feedback on your own answers

With Complete, write your incident report or interview answer and get short, specific feedback against the marking points: what you covered, what you missed and what to change. It is practice feedback from an AI model, not an official assessment, and Complete includes up to 30 a day.
